Neighbourhood Watch

PRARA is a registered Neighbourhood Watch group so, as a member of PRARA, you are automatically a member of Neighbourhood Watch.

Please tell your street representative about any problems, incidents or trouble. Their names and numbers can be found on the Contact Us page.

However, for immediate action please contact your Safer Neighbourhood Team, the general police non-emergency number (101) or, if a crime is seen or suspected or for any other emergency - call 999 immediately.

Security Camera

Safer Neighbourhoods Teams - SNTs - are dedicated to your community and are additional to other policing teams and units in London. Their aim is to listen and talk to you, and find out what affects your daily life and feelings of security. These might be issues such as anti-social behaviour, graffiti, noisy neighbourhoods, yobs or vandalism. Then, they work in partnership with you and other agencies to find a lasting solution.

The small number of officers in each team means that they are not always available but they are supported by 24-hour rapid response units.

The PRARA area is covered by two different Safer Neighbourhood Teams. The boundary is in the middle of Clancarty Road. Houses and streets to the north are covered by the Parsons Green and Walham Team. Houses and streets to the south are covered by the Sands End Team. The teams work closely together and have the same Sergeant.

If we have your e-mail address we will send you security alerts as they arise and forward periodic updates from the SNTs.

POLICE ADVICE

The Police have given the following check list, to safeguard your house whenever you leave your property and when you go away on your holiday.

  • Close and lock all your doors and windows, even if you're only going out for a few minutes

  • Double-lock any door

  • Make sure that any valuables are out of sight

  • Keep handbags away from the letterbox or cat flap and hide all keys including car keys, as a thief could hook keys or valuables through even a small opening

  • Never leave car documents or ID in obvious places such as kitchens or hallways

  • In the evening, shut the curtains and leave lights on

  • If you're out all day, then it's advisable to use a timer device to automatically turn lights and a radio on at night

  • Set your burglar alarm

  • Make sure the side gate is locked

  • Lock your shed or garage

  • Lock your bike inside a secure shed or garage, to a robust fitting bolted to the ground or wall, like a ground anchor Going away?

  • If you're off on holiday and wish to post anything on social media, make sure your posts aren't public and that they're only seen by your friends

  • Leave lights and a radio on a timer to make the property appear occupied

  • Get a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property or join a Neighbourhood or resident Watch Scheme

  • Consider asking your neighbours to close curtains after dark and to park on your drive

  • Remember to cancel newspaper and milk deliveries

Each team has its own web page where you can find information about the teams, their contact details, news on what they are doing and dates for the monthly surgeries that both teams hold, usually in a local coffee shop.
